Guides for parents
Before you choose a sheet
Eighteen reads in Arabic on the questions parents ask us: where letters start, what comes before numerals, how to run an experiment in the kitchen, what a child needs for nursery, and how to notice progress without testing.
مقالات للأهل تُقرأ في خمس دقائق أو عشر. كل مقال يجيب عن سؤال واحد يطرحه الأهل علينا، ويقول ما نعرفه وما لا نعرفه، وينتهي بثلاثة أنشطة مجانية تطبّق ما فيه. نكتبها ونراجعها كما نصف في صفحة من نحن.
كيف أعلّم طفلي الحروف العربية في البيت؟
Teaching Arabic letters at home: the sound first, then the shape
يبدأ تعلّم الحروف من الأذن لا من القلم. هذه طريقة هادئة من أربع خطوات: نسمع الصوت في كلمات يعرفها الطفل، ونقارن بين بدايتين، ونربط الصوت بشكل الحرف، ثم نعود إليه في يوم آخر.
Learning letters starts with the ear, not the pencil. Four calm steps: hear the sound in words your child already knows, compare two beginnings, link the sound to the letter shape, and come back another day.
خمس دقائق مع ورقة عمل: كيف أجلس مع طفلي؟
Five minutes with a worksheet: how to sit down with a 3 to 5 year old
ورقة العمل دعوة قصيرة إلى الحديث، وليست واجبًا يجب إنهاؤه. هذا ما نفعله قبل الجلسة وفي أثنائها وبعدها، وما نتركه.
A worksheet is a short invitation to talk, not homework to finish. What to do before, during and after five minutes together, and what to leave out.
الفصحى والعامية: هل أصحّح كلام طفلي؟
Standard Arabic and the home dialect: should I correct my child?
طفلك يتكلم لهجة البيت، والأوراق مكتوبة بالفصحى. لا تعارض بينهما: نقبل كلمته، ونضع الكلمة الفصيحة بجانبها، ونترك الوقت يعمل.
Your child speaks the dialect of your home and the sheets are written in Standard Arabic. The two do not compete: accept the home word, set the standard word beside it, and give it time.
العدّ قبل الأرقام: كيف أبدأ الرياضيات مع طفل الروضة؟
Counting before numerals: starting maths with a kindergarten child
الطفل الذي يردّد الأعداد حتى العشرة لم يتعلّم العدّ بعد. العدّ يبدأ بالأصابع والأشياء، والرقم المكتوب يأتي في آخر الطريق.
A child who can recite to ten has not yet learned to count. Counting starts with fingers and real things, and the written numeral comes last.
قبل القلم: كيف أهيّئ يد طفلي للكتابة؟
Before the pencil: getting small hands ready to write
الكتابة تبدأ من الكتف والكفّ والأصابع قبل أن تبدأ من الحرف. ألعاب بسيطة تقوّي اليد، وخطوط تسبق الحروف، ولا استعجال.
Writing starts in the shoulder, the palm and the fingers before it starts with a letter. Simple play that strengthens the hand, lines that come before letters, and no hurry.
كيف أتحدث مع طفلي عن مشاعره؟
Talking with a young child about feelings
الطفل يشعر بكل شيء قبل أن يملك كلمة له. نعطيه الكلمات في لحظات هادئة: من صورة، ومن قصة، ومن يومه هو.
A child feels everything before having a word for it. Offer the words in calm moments: from a picture, from a story, and from their own day.
من العدّ إلى الرقم: كيف يتعرّف طفلي إلى الأرقام من ١ إلى ١٠؟
From counting to numerals: how a child meets the numbers 1 to 10
الرقم المكتوب هو آخر ما يتعلّمه الطفل، لا أوّله. قبله يأتي العدّ باللمس، ومعرفة الكمية من نظرة، ثم ربط الشكل بالكمية. هنا الترتيب الذي نتبعه، وما نفعله حين يحفظ الطفل الأسماء دون أن يفهمها.
The written numeral is the last thing a child learns, not the first. Before it come counting by touch, seeing a small quantity at a glance, and linking shape to amount. The order we follow, and what to do when a child recites numbers without meaning.
العلوم في البيت: كيف أجري تجربة مع طفل في الرابعة؟
Science at home: running an experiment with a four-year-old
التجربة العلمية مع طفل الروضة ليست عرضًا مدهشًا، بل سؤال صغير وتخمين قبل الجواب. ماء وملعقة وحبة سكر تكفي. هنا الخطوات الأربع التي تجعل أي شيء في المطبخ تجربة، وما الذي يتعلّمه الطفل فعلًا منها.
A science experiment with a preschooler is not a show. It is a small question and a guess before the answer. Water, a spoon and a lump of sugar are enough. Four steps that turn anything in the kitchen into an experiment, and what the child actually learns.
كبير وصغير، فوق وتحت: كيف يتعلّم طفلي المفاهيم الأولى؟
Big and small, above and below: how a child learns first concepts
الأضداد ليست درسًا في المفردات، بل أول تدريب على المقارنة والتفكير. الطفل يفهم «كبير» حين يرى الصغير بجانبه. هنا لماذا نبدأ بالحجم، ولماذا نؤجّل اليمين واليسار، وكيف نلعب بالأضداد في البيت كله لا على الورقة فقط.
Opposites are not a vocabulary lesson. They are a child's first training in comparing and reasoning. A child understands big when small sits next to it. Why we start with size, why left and right wait, and how to play opposites across the whole house.
كيف أقرأ قصة مصوّرة لطفل لا يقرأ بعد؟
Reading a picture story with a child who cannot read yet
القراءة للطفل ليست أداء، والطفل الذي يقاطع ليس مشاغبًا. هنا طريقة من ثلاث قراءات للقصة نفسها، وأسئلة تفتح الحوار بدل أن تختبره، وما نفعله حين يطلب القصة نفسها للمرة العشرين.
Reading to a child is not a performance, and a child who interrupts is not misbehaving. A three-reading method for the same story, questions that open a conversation instead of testing, and what to do when they ask for the same story for the twentieth time.
الروتين اليومي: كيف يتعلّم طفلي أن يعتمد على نفسه؟
Daily routines: how a child learns to do things alone
غسل اليدين ولبس الثياب وترتيب الألعاب ليست واجبات منزلية، بل أول دروس الاستقلال والترتيب والذاكرة. هنا كيف نقسّم المهمة إلى خطوات، ومتى نساعد ومتى ننتظر، ولماذا الصباح البطيء أفضل معلّم.
Washing hands, getting dressed and putting toys away are not chores. They are the first lessons in independence, sequence and memory. How to break a task into steps, when to help and when to wait, and why a slow morning is the best teacher.
بيت بلغتين: هل تؤخّر الإنجليزية عربية طفلي؟
A home with two languages: does English hold back a child's Arabic?
طفل يسمع العربية في البيت والإنجليزية في الحضانة ويخلط بينهما في الجملة الواحدة. هذا ليس تأخّرًا ولا ارتباكًا، بل المرحلة الطبيعية لطفل بلغتين. هنا ما يقوله الأهل الذين مرّوا بها، وما يحتاجه الطفل فعلًا كي تبقى العربية لغته.
A child hears Arabic at home and English at nursery and mixes both in one sentence. This is not delay or confusion. It is the normal stage of a child with two languages. What the child actually needs for Arabic to remain their language.
طفلي لا يجلس: الحركة قبل الورقة
My child will not sit still: movement before the worksheet
طفل الثالثة الذي لا يجلس خمس دقائق ليس مشكلة تُحلّ، بل جسم يتعلّم بالحركة. هنا كيف نجعل النشاط يبدأ واقفًا، ومتى تأتي الورقة، ولماذا الدقائق الثلاث الجالسة بعد قفز أطول من عشر دقائق بالإكراه.
A three-year-old who cannot sit for five minutes is not a problem to solve but a body that learns by moving. How to start an activity standing up, when the sheet comes in, and why three seated minutes after jumping beat ten forced ones.
الطباعة في البيت: كيف أطبع بأقلّ حبر، وماذا أفعل بلا طابعة؟
Printing at home: using less ink, and what to do without a printer
أوراقنا مصمّمة لتُطبع بالأسود والأبيض على ورق عادي، وصفحة واحدة منها فقط للطفل. هنا إعدادات الطابعة التي توفّر الحبر، وأيّ الأنشطة لا تحتاج إلى طباعة أصلًا، وكيف تستعمل الهاتف بدل الورقة الثانية.
Our sheets are designed for black and white on plain paper, and only one page is for the child. Printer settings that save ink, which activities need no printing at all, and how to use the phone instead of the second page.
شاشة أقلّ: كيف أستبدل ربع ساعة من الشاشة بنشاط ورقي؟
Less screen: swapping fifteen minutes of screen time for a paper activity
الهدف ليس إلغاء الشاشة، بل أن يكون في اليوم ربع ساعة يفعل فيها الطفل شيئًا بيديه مع شخص يحبّه. هنا الأوقات التي يسهل فيها الاستبدال، ولماذا يفشل الاستبدال المفاجئ، وما الذي يجعل الورقة تنافس الشاشة فعلًا.
The aim is not to abolish the screen but to have fifteen minutes a day in which the child does something with their hands beside someone they love. The moments when the swap is easy, why a sudden swap fails, and what makes a sheet compete with a screen.
كيف ألاحظ تقدّم طفلي من دون اختبار؟
Noticing a child's progress without testing them
«ما هذا الحرف؟» أمام الضيوف يعلّم الطفل أن المعرفة عرض. هناك طريقة أصدق لنعرف ما تعلّمه: نراقب ما يفعله حين لا يُسأل، ونطلب منه أن يعلّمنا. هنا أربع علامات على التعلّم الحقيقي، وسجلّ بسيط من سطر في الأسبوع.
Asking what is this letter in front of guests teaches a child that knowledge is a performance. There is a truer way to know what they learned: watch what they do unasked, and ask them to teach you. Four signs of real learning, and a one-line weekly log.
الاستعداد للروضة: ماذا يحتاج طفل الثالثة فعلًا؟
Getting ready for nursery: what a three-year-old actually needs
ليس الحروف ولا الأرقام. ما يحتاجه الطفل في أول أسابيع الروضة هو أن يقول اسمه، ويطلب الحمّام، ويحكي ما حدث، ويعرف أن الكبير سيعود. هنا الخمسة التي تسبق كل شيء، وكيف نتدرّب عليها في البيت قبل أول يوم وبعده.
Not letters, not numbers. What a child needs in the first weeks of nursery is to say their name, ask for the toilet, tell what happened, and know the adult will come back. Five things that come before everything, and how to practise them at home.
السماء والقمر: أول درس في الفلك لطفل الروضة
The sky and the moon: a preschooler's first astronomy lesson
لا يحتاج طفل الرابعة إلى تلسكوب ولا إلى أسماء الكواكب. يحتاج إلى أن يخرج ليلًا ثلاث مرات ويرى أن القمر تغيّر. هنا كيف نحوّل النافذة إلى مرصد، وماذا نقول حين يسأل «لماذا؟» ولا نعرف، ولماذا الليل جزء من التعلّم لا عدوّه.
A four-year-old needs no telescope and no planet names. They need to go outside three nights and see that the moon has changed. How to turn a window into an observatory, what to say when they ask why and you do not know, and why the night is part of learning.
