The parent guide for this sheet

Print page 1 for your child and read this guide on your phone. How we play together, and why

Before you start

  1. 1

    Parent prompt

  2. 2

    Parent prompt

  3. 3

    Parent prompt

Watch for

If they need help

If they want more

How the activity runs

Every sheet follows the same five moves, in this sheet’s own words. Read them once before you sit down; they are what page 1 asks the child to do.

  1. 1

Wonder

I can colour every shape that has three corners, even when it is upside down.

  2. 2

Listen

Put a finger on each corner of the first shape and count.

  3. 3

Explore

Colour every shape with three corners.

  4. 4

Try

Now put a dot inside every shape that has no corners at all.

  5. 5

Share

Find something in the room with three corners.

One sheet, three ways to pitch it

Nothing to print twice. The same page is made gentler or harder by what the adult says and how much of it is used.

Support

If the sheet is new or the child is tired

The first row only, counting corners with the adult's finger.

Core

The sheet as printed

All nine shapes: three corners coloured, no corners dotted.

Challenge

If it was easy, or on the second day

Say how many corners every shape has, including the four-cornered ones.
