How the fifteen minutes go

The five steps on this sheet, in the order a child meets them. This is what you will actually be doing, not a description of the method.

Print the one that fits today. Same skill, three depths — and on this sheet they differ like this.

Support

Numbers 1 to 3, adult cuts and staples.

Fewer items, more pictures, hints included, parent reads the instructions.

Core

1 to 5.

The standard task, recognition, practice and explanation.

Challenge

Go to 10, and add the Arabic numeral on each page too.

Open-ended. Explain why, make your own example, use it somewhere new.

The same guide that is printed on the back page, so you can read it before you decide to print anything.

The answers

One thing on page 1, two on page 2, and so on. Whether they draw fish or dots is theirs to choose.

If they get stuck

Do one page a day for five days. A book does not have to be made in one sitting.

Common mistakes

Drawing the same number of things on every page. Count with them, page by page.
An adult drawing 'properly'. Their five wobbly circles are worth more than five neat ones.

When they finish early

Keep it. In six months it is a record of exactly where they were.
