The parent guide for this sheet

Print page 1 for your child and read this guide on your phone. How we play together, and why

Before you start

  1. 1

    Parent prompt

  2. 2

    Parent prompt

  3. 3

    Parent prompt

Watch for

If they need help

If they want more

What is on the sheet

Two pictures at the top, hands being washed and a running tap, with the first two steps written under them. Then five steps in a row, each with a large tick box: أُبَلِّلُ يَدَيَّ (I wet my hands), أَضَعُ الصَّابُونَ (I put on soap), أَدْعُكُ جَيِّدًا (I rub well), أَشْطُفُ (I rinse), أُجَفِّفُ (I dry). A note says to rub with soap for at least 20 seconds, and that the ticks do not all have to be filled.

Skill: Doing a five-step routine alone, from beginning to end. You will need: soap, running water, a clean towel. Your role: observe. Prints well in black and white.

How the activity runs

Every sheet follows the same five moves, in this sheet’s own words. Read them once before you sit down; they are what page 1 asks the child to do.

  2. 2

Listen

Your grown-up reads them once. Then they stop talking.

  3. 3

Explore

Go and do it. All five, in order, on your own.

  4. 4

Try

Forgot one? Go back and do that one. Nobody starts again.

  5. 5

Share

Tick each step you did by yourself.

One sheet, three ways to pitch it

Nothing to print twice. The same page is made gentler or harder by what the adult says and how much of it is used.

Support

If the sheet is new or the child is tired

Three steps: water, soap, dry. The skeleton.

Core

The sheet as printed

All five, in order.

Challenge

If it was easy, or on the second day

Do it without looking at the sheet, then tick from memory.
