  3. 3

    Parent prompt

ما الذي على الورقة؟

What is on the sheet

Three pictures with their words, مِلْعَقَة (a spoon), خُبْز (bread), تُفَّاحَة (an apple), under the rule that each person gets one of each. Below, a small count chart to fill after the table is set: how many spoons, how many pieces of bread, how many apples. A note says the example is four people, and the number can be changed for your family.

Skill: One-to-one correspondence, done with real objects and a real result. You will need: four spoons, four pieces of bread and four apples, a real table. Your role: check. Prints well in black and white.

How the activity runs

Every sheet follows the same five moves, in this sheet’s own words. Read them once before you sit down; they are what page 1 asks the child to do.

  1. 1

    نتساءل · Wonder

I can put one spoon, one piece of bread and one apple for each person.

  2. 2

    نسمع · Listen

Do not count them all out first. Take one person at a time.

  3. 3

    نستكشف · Explore

Go and set it. One person, then the next.

  4. 4

    نفكّر · Think

Now count. Four people, and how many spoons?

  5. 5

    نشارك · Share

Is anybody missing something? Check before they sit down.
