The parent guide for this sheet

Print page 1 for your child and read this guide on your phone. How we play together, and why

Before you start

  1. 1

    Parent prompt

  2. 2

    Parent prompt

  3. 3

    Parent prompt

Watch for

If they need help

If they want more

What is on the sheet

Four numbered cut-out cards that become a little book, each with the dolphin and the fish drawn together and one line of the story in vowelled Arabic: the dolphin watches a fish playing from far away, the fish invites him and waits, the dolphin comes closer and says yes, they play and the dolphin rests. A note says the grown-up cuts along the edges, puts the cards in order from 1 to 4, and clips them at the right-hand edge.

Skill: Holding a four-part story, and making a book with your own hands. You will need: scissors for the adult, a paper clip. Your role: read aloud. Prints well in black and white.

How the activity runs

Every sheet follows the same five moves, in this sheet’s own words. Read them once before you sit down; they are what page 1 asks the child to do.

  5. 5

Share

Read it to somebody who has not seen it.

The grown-up reads each page and the child says the last word.
