Loud or quiet?

I can say whether something is loud or quiet, then listen and find out.

The parent guide for this sheet

Print page 1 for your child and read this guide on your phone. How we play together, and why

Before you start

  1. 1

    Parent prompt

  2. 2

    Parent prompt

  3. 3

    Parent prompt

Watch for

If they need help

If they want more

How the activity runs

Every sheet follows the same five moves, in this sheet’s own words. Read them once before you sit down; they are what page 1 asks the child to do.

  1. 1

Wonder

I can say whether something is loud or quiet, then listen and find out.

  2. 2

Listen

Your grown-up names one. Is it loud or quiet? Say it, then put it in its box.

  3. 3

Explore

Do all eight. Two boxes: a loud sound, a quiet sound.

  4. 4

Try

Make the sound of each one with your mouth. Loud ones loudly, quiet ones quietly.

  5. 5

Share

Find one loud thing and one quiet thing in the house, and listen to both.

Core

The sheet as printed
